Closed Escrow

We closed escrow on our new house. The previous owner was kind enough to show us all the features of the house.

Throughout the process, Li and I started imagining how we can remodel the house so that it would fit more to the style we wanted. While the house looked amazing, there was a lot we wanted to change. Kristine introduced us to Mac Construction to do the overall remodeling. Jim McGrory would introduce us to Carlos Barrios for some of the media work.

Here’s the list of things we did to our house in the first months:

  • Replaced all halogen lights in the house with LED lights
  • Replaced a lot of the manual light switches with smart switches
  • Replaced thermostat with Nest
  • Replaced key locks with digital locks
  • Replaced many light fixtures with chandeliers
  • Replaced first floor tiles with hardwood floors
  • Remodeled kitchen including cabinets
  • Remodeled living room
    • removed bricks
    • added marble wall
    • added drop down projector system
  • Remodeled first floor closet to add server room
  • Remodeled entry way with scarf displays
  • Added a door to make an office upstairs
  • Remodeled primary closet
  • Remodeled primary bedroom with scarf displays
  • Updated swimming pool with automation system
  • Added Internet capable garage door openers
  • Installed two electric water heaters

We were fortunate enough that we didn’t have to move in or live there while the remodeling took place. The place was a mess with construction dust everywhere. Wires everywhere. Workers everywhere.
