China Day 3 - Zoo
Today, the family took me to the zoo because they knew I wanted to see a panda in China. Growing up in San Francisco, I knew about my Chinese heritage, but it was purely from Hong Kong, which is quite Westernized because of the British influence.
I never would have thought that I would meet and date someone from the motherland. This has been an eye-opening experience to see the culture from a regular person’s point of view, away from the tourist areas. I had been to Beijing in 2008, but that was in a business setting. This is way more fun and personal to me.
Even though we don’t speak a common language, Alex and I were able to become fast friends. It’s so cute to see him laugh and smiling. In one of the pictures, he was trying to see if he could lift my camera bag.
